My Spring Break and Praises!

My Spring Break has officially not been any fun! The first weekend, I had tons of fun with the fam jam in Newnan at Preston's bike race. Monday when I got home I got a day before I had surgery and then Tuesday was the dreadful day. Tuesday and Wednesday after the surgery wasn't to bad. My throat was still numb from all the anesthesia and so it didn't start hurting really bad until Thursday. I was miserable yesterday. Preston and I woke up at the same time and I just looked at him and said "It freaking hurts!" So all day yesterday, I took the Ibuprofen and pain medicine as scheduled just so I wouldn't be in tears. I stayed on the couch and kept ice on my throat all day and really didnt' even talk. At dinner I had mashed potatoes while everybody else had this yummy shrimp pasta stuff, well I had some of the noodles. I just kind of sat in silence at dinner as well. Then we just all hung out as a fam last night because Preston is leaving today because he has to go to Athens, GA this weekend for another bike race. GO BAMA! I slept on the couch last night, well I was up half of the night and this morning while my mom was getting ready to go to work, I went and got in her bed and slept until 11. I think those 4 hours was the best sleep I have gotten since I have had surgery!! Today I feel somewhat better but not to much. Its so pretty outside that I would love to be at a pool laying out right now, but its kinda chilly! Anyways.....I'm recovering and thats part of having surgery is having to hurt for a while before you get completely better. I'm trying to be a big girl about it, but its hard. :)

So I have read a couple of blogs, well the first one was a blog that I have read since her baby was NICU and I have just kept reading it and then I read Ashley Waldrop's blog and it was all about Praises. Sometimes we do not Praise God enough, we just ask for things. We always need to PRAISE Him as well. SO here are some of my praises.

1. My family, they are amazing and I love each and every one of them so much.

2. My parents, they have been so supporitive of everything Preston and I have ever done. Especially when they take care of us when we are sick! This is my 3rd surgery and they have been amazing through everyone of them.

3. That I have a job that I absouletly love. These days that is hard to say sometimes.

4. I have a house and an apartment to live in and car to drive.

5. My college education and am still going to college to pursue something that I love. Helping People.

6. My friends that I have. Even though I don't see some of you all the time, I'm so glad I have met you and we keep in touch. I love you all!

7. Health insurance! I'm so thankful I have a job that provides this!

8. My dogs, Bailey and Chloe, this might sound silly, but they always bring a smile to my face, even when I'm hurting!

I could keep going, but I don't want to bore you! Well I'm going to get back on the couch and keep trying to get better. I really want to go to the mall, maybe Mom and I can go tomorrow for a little while. I do need a new watch, mine broke and I wear one all the time, so thats a good excuse to go, right?

Here is a picture of my family, its back when I had longer hair, but the only one I could find on a computer! I'll try to find a better one later on my dad's computer.

We went to the TN for fall break and it happened to be on my birthday! This was our last day and we were about to leave! The leaves were so pretty. Anyways, Bailey is scratching on my because the computer is in his way of sitting in my lap, so I'm going to go. Until next time. Love ya'll!!

Another Bike Race and Days After Surgery!

Last Friday my parents and I met in Birmingham to go to Newnan, GA for one of Preston's Bike Races. We had a bit of delay because of my tired. My tired had split on the way to Birmingham that night and some of the metal had popped out and there was a huge hump in my tire. Praise God I made it to Birmingham and didn't have a huge blowout. So after we ate at Tazekis (my second time for the week, I met some of my best friends Wednesday night for dinner), my mom insisted that my dad go to Wal Mart and see if the tire center was still open, it had closed, but the man was willing to stay until he got it fixed so we could get to Newnan. My dad drove his car too, but he was having to leave earlier than we did so he could get back to preach. Thank goodness for nice people still in this world. He stayed over for two hours to get it done, what a nice man! So we didn't end up getting to Newnan until 1:30 their time. Atleast Preston's race wasn't until 1:00 Saturday afternoon. Of course all over the south, well in Bama and Georgia it was cold and rainy all weekend, it sucked that the weather was so bad, but we still had a good time. Newnan is where Georgia Tech is at. It was about the size of Tuscaloosa. Here are some pictures we took.

This is Mom, Dad and me before we left for the race!

This is Preston getting ready in the warm and out of the rain, except he kept forgetting stuff and kept making me get out in the rain and go get it. What we will do for little brothers!

This is actually the 2nd Day, but its the best of him about to start a race!

This is during a race, he is right there in the middle with the bright blue jacket on.

He did very good! The first day there was a bunch of wrecks, but the second day when it was raining worse, there was no wrecks but a lot of people quitting. We had a good time and of course when we get to the interstate from Newnan, the sun starts coming out and we are searching for sunglasses to drive in. Haha, oh well.

Yesterday, Tuesday, I finally got my huge tonsils and adnoids taken out. Monday when I went to the ENT up here, it took him 2 seconds to see that they needed to come out. They rate them on a scale of 1 to 4 and mine were a 4. So needless to say yesterday I got them out and even though my throat hurts extremely bad, I can already swallow better. And no more STREP! Yea! I'm doing extremely well though, I actually don't feel bad, its just that my throat hurts extremely bad. I'm trying not to take the pain medicine for as long as I can and then I have to break down and take it. My parents have been wonderful, asking if I need anything, fixed me homeade mashed potatoes last night. Yummy! Preston is even fixing us lunch, well mostly for his food, so he can go ride. Haha. Anyways....I hope my throat quits hurting soon. I would love to lay out, but I forgot my bathing suit. I'm losing my tan, so I need to do something. Maybe I will go to the tanning bed! Ha! Well love till next time!

Sad weekend at DCH!

Many of you are probably wondering what my facebook status is about, well now that its on the news, I can tell. Saturday night I was working of course because I feel like that is all I do. We got a patient up to the floor that was a 60 year old man, with a neck brace on. We all thought, hmmm he must of been in a car wreck. And were we ever right. One of our friends is a resp. therapist and was in the Emerency Room when all of this was going on. A 22 year old and his uncle (which is the 60 yr old man we got to the floor) and the 22 year olds son was in a truck. The dad and uncle were drunk and the car wrecked into the Sipsey River. The two men got out and left the baby in the carseat on the trunk. When the police and the ambulance arrived they saw something floating upside down and it was the baby in the carseat floating in the river, not breathing. When the 3 year old arrived to the hospital they had to fully "code" him. (In simple terms, do everything they can to keep that baby breathing and alive.) They then lifted him to Children's hospital in Birmingham. The baby is still there and still in critical condition. Please pray for this little boy as he fights for his life in Birmingham. Again, we got the uncle to the floor and he just passed out asleep, because they were both were completly drunk when they arrived to the hospital. The people that were working Saturday night were just in awe of how you could do this to an innocent little child. On our side, how do you show sympathy to a patient that has done this, which is what one of our job descriptions is, to have sympathy towards your patients. Thank goodness he got discharged before I came back to work yesterday. Everyone is forgiven, but I think the 22 year old and the uncle the last thing on their mind is being forgiven, just how not to get in trouble. Pray for this whole family, especially the little boy. It is very sad to me and I have thought about him all weekend long and still today. Let this be a life lesson to all of us and think about what you do before you get in a car and drive!

On a good note....... My family and I are going to Newnan, GA to watch another race of Preston's. This is the first collegiate race my parents will have seen, so I'm very excited to go and hopefully the UA team does really well. They work really hard and I think they deserve to do good. Then I will be off to Russellville to have my tonsils and adnoids taken out. Yea, hopefully no more strep 4 times in a month and a half. It's going to be rough because I'm older having this done, but I will make it with a lot of jello and popsicles. No icecream, I won't explain what it does because its gross. Until next time! Love you all!
